One of our recent projects on Charlton Avenue in Hamilton focused on transforming a standard backyard into a peaceful, multi-functional retreat with clean lines, custom stonework, and natural textures.

Patio & Retaining Walls

At the core of this build is a beautiful patio created using Techo-Bloc “Dark Oak” pavers, bordered in striking Onyx Black for bold contrast and visual structure. To frame the space, we constructed two 2-foot-high L-shaped walls using Brussel Block Tumbled Sandstone with coordinating caps, offering both functional seating and definition to the layout.

Pathways & Soft Surfaces

Leading through the garden and side areas, we added natural flagstone and a pea gravel walkway, creating texture and flow between zones. New sod was installed throughout the lawn space for an instant green refresh.

Planting Design

We chose a combination of architectural and woodland-style plantings to soften the hardscaping. These included Hex Yew, ferns, ornamental grasses, and a stunning Tombela Japanese Maple as the focal point. These plants will mature into a lush, layered backdrop, offering beauty year-round.

Fence & Custom Gate

For privacy and style, we built a 6-foot wood privacy fence along the rear and side property lines, paired with a custom decorative fence gate to define access points and add charm.
